The African Haying and Forage Machinery market had a value USD XX million in 2015 and is expected to reach a value USD XX million by 2020 with a CAGR of XX%. Farm mechanization saves time and labor, cuts down crop production costs in the long run, reduces post-harvest losses and boosts crop output and farm income. Importance of mechanization for farm productivity coupled with increasing support from government in terms of favorable policies and ensure farm income has led to the bright future of the industry. Haying and forage machinery are generally equipment which are used for the production of plant-based feed for animals. With increasing technology of farming tools worldwide, the agriculture industry is relying on equipment to enhance forage quality, output, cost-effectiveness, and processes such as the rate of drying etc.
South Africa followed by Egypt have relatively major market shares in the region. The market encompasses a variety of machines such as mowers, conditioners, balers, forage harvesters and rakes. A pull type forage harvester includes a header, a cylindrical cutter head having rotating knives operatively associated with a shearbar, feed rolls for receiving crop material from the header and conveying it to the cutter head, and a blower remotely located on the forage harvester relative to the cutterhead. The blower includes a spout for expelling cut crop material to a collecting receptacle. A Forage blower is generally used to fill the tallest silos with lower power requirements and has a paddle design that generates a powerful air stream for the same. There are hoppers and larger hoppers increase the capacity. They are used in clover, alfaalfa, corn silages etc.
The market has tremendous opportunities with improvisation in technology and precision farming techniques. Precision farming is a technique concept based on observing, measuring and responding to inter and intra-field variability in crops. There are several major players in the market such as the AGCO, CLAAS, John Deere, KUNH Group, CNH Industrial and others which have a relatively larger market share. These players adopt several strategies in order to increase their market share, Acquisition or Expansion being the major ones.
