Morocco Metal Profiles Market Analysis by Mordor Intelligence

The Morocco Metal Profiles Market size is estimated at 75.60 million square meters in 2026, and is expected to reach 104.26 million square meters by 2031, at a CAGR of 6.64% during the forecast period (2026-2031). Volume growth stems from airport and stadium expansions, a social-housing deficit, and rising electric-vehicle battery investments that favor precision-rolled or extruded sections. Steel continues to dominate structural jobs, but aluminum gains momentum because it is lighter, corrosion-resistant in coastal climates, and increasingly carries low-carbon certifications that help Moroccan exporters avoid hefty payments under the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). Contractors are also substituting pre-engineered metal buildings for cast-in-place concrete on cost and schedule grounds, lifting profile intensity per square meter. Direct sales command almost half of all volume as turnkey contractors for giga-factories, stadiums, and cold-chain warehouses negotiate multi-year supply agreements that lock in prices and guarantee just-in-time delivery.

Key Report Takeaways

  • By product type, steel profiles held 79.83% of Morocco's metal profiles market share in 2025, while aluminum profiles are on track to register an 8.14% CAGR through 2031.

Segment Analysis

By Product Type: Steel Retains Volume Lead Despite Aluminum’s Carbon Edge

Steel held 79.83% of 2025 volume, largely due to its competitive pricing for galvanized C-sections. Meanwhile, aluminum is on a rapid ascent with an impressive growth rate. The market for aluminum curtain walls in Morocco's upscale offices and hotels is witnessing an 8.14% CAGR. This uptick is attributed to CBAM-compliant imports, which, by adding an extra cost over their uncertified counterparts, are effectively narrowing the price disparities. Somasteel's ambitious expansion of its billet production underscores a strategy aimed at bolstering domestic steel self-sufficiency. In contrast, Aluminium du Maroc's ALU+C- label is strategically positioning itself in the lucrative green-premium export market. Looking ahead, a Morocco-China collaboration is set to unveil a low-carbon aluminum park by 2029. This venture promises to double the primary smelting capacity, potentially undermining the cost edge enjoyed by Gulf firms while simultaneously amplifying local extrusion production.

While domestic mills continue to lead in supplying heavy sections, the trend in high-rise façades is shifting. Now, they increasingly demand 50-year anodized finishes paired with thermal breaks. These enhancements achieve RTCM U-values between 0.55 and 0.70 W/m²·K, translating to a notable boost in energy efficiency for apartment blocks. Steel's stronghold in load-bearing applications remains unchallenged. However, there's a notable trend among design-build contractors: they're melding the strengths of both metals. By opting for aluminum mullions on building exteriors and steel beams within, they're striking an optimal balance between strength, weight, and carbon footprint considerations.

By End-User Segment: Residential Leads on Social-Housing Deficit, Logistics Accelerates

As the government tackles a backlog of housing units, residential projects accounted for 31.73% portion of the 2025 volume and are the fastest-growing segment at 7.65% CAGR. Demand for light-gauge C-sections and aluminum window assemblies is rising, buoyed by better mortgage access and increased cement deliveries. Logistics facilities growth is largely due to cold-chain warehouses, which utilize more profiles per square meter than their ambient counterparts.

Commercial buildings, driven by airport terminal expansions and hotel projects seeking daylight-enhancing glazed façades, represent a notable portion of the volume. Industrial sectors, including battery, automotive, and agro-processing plants, account for a smaller share of the volume. However, they command a significant value premium, especially with cleanroom partitions fetching a markup over standard framing. Agricultural entities, from sheds and pack houses to olive mills, round out the sector, showing a preference for pre-engineered metal buildings. These structures offer expansive coverage with minimal foundational requirements.

By Application Category: Façade Systems Capture Share as RTCM Awareness Rises

Architects are increasingly favoring unitized curtain walls, leading façades to command a 41.18% share of the 2025 volume. These walls not only adhere to six-zone thermal-code U-values but also achieve a notable reduction in energy consumption. While roof systems account for a considerable portion of the market, they're witnessing the fastest growth at 7.67% CAGR, driven by the adoption of insulated sandwich panels in cold-storage facilities. Wall framing remains predominantly influenced by cold-formed steel, especially in budget housing. Aluminum, with its superior anodized surfaces, is making significant inroads in façades. Approaching a substantial share by value, aluminum's resistance to coastal corrosion outshines that of hot-dip galvanized steel, leading to extended life cycles and reduced repainting needs.

By Build Type: New Construction Dominates, Renovation Gathers Momentum

New builds represented 84.24% of 2025 volume and are witnessing a 6.80% CAGR, buoyed by a hefty investment in airport projects, the establishment of numerous stadiums for the World Cup, and significant investments in giga-factories. While renovations currently make up a modest portion, they are set to accelerate once retrofits mandated by RTCM transition from being optional to compulsory. In a bid to reduce embodied carbon emissions by 25 to 30 percent, contractors are replacing traditional single-skin steel sheets with reusable insulated panels in airport terminals.

By Distribution Channel: Direct Sales Bypass Middlemen on Mega-Projects

Direct sales collected 49.01% of the 2025 volume and are witnessing a 7.25% CAGR. This trend is largely driven by FIFA stadiums and EV-battery plants opting for direct factory-to-site logistics, sidestepping stockist mark-ups. Meanwhile, service centers and regional distributors cater to SMEs, prioritizing next-day delivery over bulk discounts, and holding steady at approximately the same market share. Although retail and online platforms cater to self-builders, they remain a niche segment, especially as urbanization in Morocco surpasses 64% of its population.

Geography Analysis

In 2025, Casablanca-Settat account for an estimated demand, driven by the Mohammed V Airport expansion and a series of rail and highway projects. Following closely, Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima contributed, bolstered by Gotion’s gigafactory in Kenitra and BTR’s cathode facility at Tanger Med. Marrakech-Safi and Souss-Massa together made up demand, supported by hotel developments and agri-logistics initiatives backed by World Bank funding. Fez-Meknes secured demand due to the establishment of logistics zones, while other inland regions accounted for the remaining demand, primarily driven by agricultural sheds and modest housing projects.

The growth rate outpaces Morocco’s anticipated GDP growth. This suggests that the Moroccan metal profiles market is set to expand at a pace faster than the nation's broader economic growth. While free-trade agreements provide exporters with a tariff advantage, the imposition of CBAM charges poses challenges for non-certified mills. This scenario is steering the industry towards solar-powered smelters and a push for green-steel certification. Coastal cities exhibit higher consumption of aluminum. This is largely because the saline air can diminish the lifespan of galvanized steel by up to 40%. Such a premium is acknowledged by developers of luxury hotels and airports, who are willing to accommodate longer cycle intervals.

Competitive Landscape

The Morocco metal profiles market is moderately consolidated. Strategy converges on decarbonization and backward integration. Smaller extruders lacking ISO 9001/14001 credentials risk exclusion from FIFA-mandated transparent supply chains. White-space opportunities include thermally broken residential window systems that meet RTCM energy targets yet remain underspecified in most of the social-housing projects. Vertical integration into billet casting and alloying, plus digital platforms for mill-test report verification, also offer differentiation.
