Established agents, including tobramycin and colistimethate sodium, require substantial drug loads that nebulizers can deliver without strong inspiratory effort or breath-hold coordination. These characteristics remain relevant for patients with severely reduced lung function.

The dry-powder segment is forecast to grow at a CAGR of 10.55% through 2031. A 2025 pediatric study found that dry-powder tobramycin delivered through the Cyclops device was well tolerated among cystic fibrosis patients aged 6 to 18 years.
