• February 2023: The New York Power Authority (NYPA) and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) announced their first-of-its-kind battery energy storage system (BESS) utilizing patented, high-safety, lithium-ion (Li-ion) superCell technology. It provides energy peak-shaving capabilities to NYPA's White Plains offices as part of a demonstration project.
• October 2022: Fluence Energy GmbH and TransnetBW GmbH announced their plans to deploy the world's largest battery-based energy storage-as-transmission project. The project will improve energy security and significantly support Germany's energy transition pathway by increasing the efficiency of the existing grid infrastructure. The 250 MW battery-based energy storage system, supplied by Fluence, will be located at Kupferzell, a significant grid hub. It is planned for completion in 2025.
• February 2022: Battery manufacturer Saft announced that it had secured a contract from Neoen to deliver a turnkey 8MW/8 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Antugnac, Southern France. The facility will be France's first co-located BESS and solar farm connected to Réseau de Transport d'Électricité's (RTE) high-voltage transmission grid. Saft is building the new ESS on an EPC basis, with completion scheduled for spring 2022, within 10 months of contract signing.

• In March 2022, the Indonesian government launched a 5MW battery energy storage system (BESS) pilot project as it aims to move away from diesel-generated power. Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) 'de-dieselization' program will involve 5,200 units of new renewable energy generation with a total power of 2GW by 2024 and is a potential application for battery storage.
• In May 2022, Vietnam's government published plans to double its stationed power generation capacity to 146 gigawatts (GW) by 2030, and for the same, Vietnam calls for up to USD 14 billion annual power investment.

• February 2022: The partnership between FIMER and Vega Solar supplied 14 PVS-100 inverters, a three-phase string solution, to Albania. The PVS-100/120-TL is a cloud-connected three-phase string inverter by FIMER designed for cost-effective decentralized solar systems on both ground and rooftops.
• May 2022: Salient Energy, a company developing proprietary zinc-ion batteries as an alternative to lithium-ion batteries in residential energy storage, announced that it had formalized a partnership with Horton World Solutions (HWS), a sustainable homebuilder whose proprietary composite framing system enables best-in-class energy efficiency and construction time.

• January 2023: The Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) announced the issue of around 15 tenders in the next fiscal year 2023-2024 for global and local firms in sectors including supply of equipment, maintenance of computer systems, operation of oilfield systems, management of technology repair and maintenance services for oil installations in various areas, and other services.
• October 2022: A Canadian drilling rig contractor, Precision Drilling Corporation, announced that it was recently awarded four contracts in Kuwait, each with a five-year term and an optional one-year renewal. The contract awards were for AC Super Triple 3000 HP drilling rigs, and this was expected to increase the company's active rig count in Kuwait from three rigs to five rigs by the middle of 2023.

• June 2023: CATL will invest USD 1.4 billion in helping Bolivia develop its huge but largely untapped reserves of lithium. Following a meeting with CATL executives on June 25, Bolivian President Luis Arce confirmed the commitment to build two lithium plants to extract minerals from the country’s Uyuni and Oruro salt flats. Construction of both plants could begin as soon as July, according to the country’s energy ministry.
• March 2023: Tesla was reported to be in talks with Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd. (CATL) regarding plans to build a battery factory in the U.S., according to sources familiar with the matter.
• November 2022: SK On and Hyundai Motor Group have signed an MOU to cooperate in supplying electric vehicle (EV) batteries in North America.

• June 2023: CATL announced the signing of a strategic cooperation framework agreement with the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government. The two parties will focus on such key fields as New Energy Vehicle battery swapping, electric ships, new energy storage, green parks, financial services, and trade for all-round cooperation.
• May 2023: Changan Auto recently disclosed that the battery cell joint venture (JV) between it and CATL will complete registration in the first half of 2023. The JV will mainly be engaged in the production and manufacturing of power battery cells and is expected to be commissioned within 2023, with an annual capacity as high as 25 GWh.
• May 2023: CATL announced the holding of a bank-enterprise strategic cooperation agreement signing ceremony with the Agricultural Bank of China (ABC). With the agreement signed, the two parties will deepen cooperation to continuously innovate cooperation models in such fields as battery swapping business, overseas and domestic businesses, and green electricity and energy storage businesses.

• May 2023: CATL announced that CATL Geely (Sichuan) Power Battery Co., Ltd. (CATL Geely) obtained a carbon neutrality certificate from TÜV Rheinland, marking that the company realized carbon neutrality in 2022. CATL Geely is a wholly-owned subsidiary of CATL Geely Power Battery Co., Ltd., a joint venture between CATL and Zeekr.
• May 2023: Invest in Thuringia announced that Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd. (CATL) is building its first battery cell manufacturing facility outside of China in the industry park “Erfurter Kreuz” and officially launched its local production of lithium-ion cells at the end of January 2023.
• February 2023: ACC has signed a contract with CRITT M2A, a leading reference center for electromobility, for the quality testing of its first Gigafactory battery production in Billy-Berclau Douvrin.

• May 2023: CATL announced that CATL Geely (Sichuan) Power Battery Co., Ltd. (CATL Geely) obtained a carbon neutrality certificate from TÜV Rheinland, marking that the company realized carbon neutrality in 2022. CATL Geely is a wholly-owned subsidiary of CATL Geely Power Battery Co., Ltd., a joint venture between CATL and Zeekr.

The JV has a registered capital of CNY 90 million, with CATL and FAW Jiefang each holding a 50% share.
