  • May 2023: Mae Hing Son province launched a solar power plant and battery energy storage project. The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) held a commercial operation date (COD) ceremony for a 3 MW solar power plant and 4 MW battery energy storage system project.
  • May 2023: Acciona Energia and the Blue Circle announced inking a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) in Thailand for five wind farms with a total capacity of 436 MW. The projects were picked through a bidding process by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), and these projects will be developed in phases. The first wind farm is expected to begin construction in 2024, and all five projects will be completed by 2030.

  • In June 2022, the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) announced approval of 16 power facilities with a combined capacity of 211 MW with 15 of the project applications for solar PV plants.   • February 2023: Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. announced that it was awarded a contract for a supply of geothermal energy project for the Menengai geothermal power station in Kenya by Toyota Tsusho Corporation, which entered into an EPC contract with QPEA GT Menengai Limited.
  • Jun 2023: Vestas won an order from Ox2 to supply a 27 MW order for the Eolia wind park in Apulia, Italy. The contract includes the supply and installation of six V150-4.5 MW wind turbines and a 35-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement.
  • Jun 2023: EDP Renewables (EDPR) was awarded a 20-year feed-in tariff (FiT) of EUR 65.17 for every MWh for 159 MW of renewable capacity. The feed-in-tariff (FiT) has four projects, of which 70% are wind projects and 30% are solar projects. These projects are located in the Puglia Region of Italy.
  • May 2023: A Germany-based power producer, RWE, announced to acquire 49% stake in Nordseecluster, a 1.6 GW cluster of offshore wind farms from Northland Power, for around USD 37.5 million. The other 2.6 GW of operating capacity lies with Northland Power. The Nordseecluster offshore wind farm was a joint venture by RWE and Northland before this transaction. The total gross capacity comprises 1,560 MW of offshore wind projects, including Nordsee-2, Nordsee-3, Delta Nordsee, and Godewind.
  • May 2023: A German automotive giant, Mercedes-Benz, unveiled plans to develop a 120 MW wind farm at its test track in Papenburg, Germany. The company has awarded a long-term contract to Umweltgerechte Kraftanlagen (UKA). The company source around 20% of the annual electricity requirements from the wind farm in Germany, which 20 countries will power.
  • In March 2023, North Carolina regulators issued an order to strengthen the state's rooftop solar market by approving a three-year glide path for solar customers to transition from monthly credits to a more dynamic time-of-use rate structure that incentivizes the use of solar when it is most valuable.
  • In June 2022, New Delhi-based Ornate Solar commissioned India's largest building-integrated rooftop solar system in Bhagru, Rajasthan. The 530 kWp InRoof system will help Canada-based natural stone manufacturer Pangaea Natural Stone to meet its net-zero goals by offsetting 18,346 metric tons of CO2 emissions.
  • January 2023: ALLETE and Grid United signed a memorandum of understanding to explore transmission opportunities. The two parties plan to execute a North Plains high voltage cables Connector development agreement during the year's first half. The project represents approximately USD 2.5 billion investment in Montana and North Dakota and will be a long-term asset for those states.
  • July 2022: Hitachi Energy India Ltd won a major order from Adani Mumbai Electric Infrastructure to provide a direct high-voltage current (HVDC) transmission system linking Kudus to Mumbai. Hitachi Energy also stated that the 80-kilometer, 1000 MW HVDC link is expected to help increase Mumbai’s power supply by almost 50% with minimal losses.
  • June 2023: The Norwegian government has mandated all government offices to deploy solar panels from 2024. Later, in 2024, the government is expected to mandate all the large-scale commercial buildings in the country to deploy solar panels to generate electricity to reduce carbon emissions.
  • November 2022: Norwegian company Equinor announced that the company decided to double its investments in the renewable energy sector in order to increase renewable energy penetration in the country.
  • November 2023: ACCIONA Energía has announced that it has been awarded, together with its local partner Freya Renewables, development rights for a 160MW wind farm in The Philippines. The contract has been awarded by the Philippine Department of Energy (DOE) through its fourth Open and Competitive Selection Process (OCSP4) for hydropower, geothermal, and wind energy resources. It entails exploration, development, and utilization of rights of wind resources in a predetermined area in the municipality of Pantabangan, 150 kilometers north of Manila.
  • September 2022: Ahunan Power announced an acquisition of a majority stake in Olympia Violago Water and Power (OVWPI), a renewable energy developer. This company owns the rights to develop a 500 MW pumped hydro storage project.

  • October 2022: Orsted, a Danish energy company, announced its intentions to develop four new offshore wind farms, aiming to increase the country's wind power production twofold. Orsted partnered with investment fund Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) to collaborate on developing approximately 5.2 GW of offshore wind capacity across four projects in Denmark, as stated in their official statement.
  • June 2022: Denmark and Germany agreed to jointly finalize the development of the anticipated Bornholm Energy Island. Once completed by 2030, this groundbreaking project will become the world's first of its kind and provide green electricity to approximately 3.3 - 4.5 million households in Denmark and Germany. Moreover, this agreement enabled Denmark to expand the original planned capacity of the energy island from 2 to 3 gigawatts (GW).
