  • September 2022: Comcast and Samsung Electronics announced a collaboration to develop 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) technologies that can be used to improve 5G connectivity for Xfinity Mobile and Comcast Business Mobile customers in Comcast service areas. Comcast will use Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) and 600 MHz spectrum to give 5G access to consumer and commercial users in the United States, and Samsung will supply 5G RAN solutions.
  • September 2022: Apple unveiled the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, which come in two sizes, 6.1 and 6.7 inches, and have a smart design, camera enhancements, and game-changing new safety features.   • April 2023: The Government of India has launched 254 '4G mobile towers' in LAC villages in Arunachal Pradesh. Further, these 254 towers will provide 4G coverage in 336 villages, including several areas that have remained unconnected since Independence. Most of these towers are located in the villages bordering China to counter foreign telecom penetration. Furthermore, with the launch of this service, over 70 thousand people are expected to be benefitted.
  • April 2023: Saudi Telecom Company (STC)'s subsidiary, Tawal, has reached an agreement to acquire the tower infrastructure of United Group for Euro 1.22 billion (USD 1.34 billion). The acquisition will include the United Group's infrastructure unit in Bulgaria, Slovenia, and Croatia, providing around 4,800 towers. Furthermore, this strategic acquisition aligns with Tawal's aim of expanding its international presence in key markets with promising growth potential within the STC Group.
  • October 2022: Saudi Arabia and India joined forces in a cross-country initiative to usher in a new era of energy diplomacy. Submarine cables will be laid between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and India, creating a green energy grid. The proposed undersea cable project will link the Saudi coast with that of Gujarat. The distance between Mundra Port in Gujarat and Fujairah, a Saudi coastal city, is 1,600 km.
  • October 2022: Saudi Telecom Company announced the creation of Center3 with an investment of USD 1 billion to support the development of Saudi Arabia's digital economy. The STC group's digital infrastructure assets, such as data centers, undersea cables, and internet exchange points (IXPs), hold the new business. The Center3 launch intends to improve the digital system, solidifying Saudi's status as a regional digital hub. The launch followed STC's objective of achieving digital empowerment and growing the company's footprint.
  • March 2023: OE Solutions is introducing two new Digital Coherent Optical (DCO) transceiver modules for access network applications: the 100G QSFP-DD DCO and the 100G/200G CFP2 DCO, both of which have EDFA booster amplifiers and movable optical filters. Digital coherent optical transceivers are well suited to meet the requirements of next-generation aggregation networks supporting primarily 5G wireless networks, Distributed Access Architectures (DAA), and high bandwidth enterprise services due to their high tolerance for diverse fiber characteristics frequently seen in edge networks. While a single wavelength often suffices short-term demands in edge networks, DCO transceiver technology allows simple initial implementation and upgrades as demand increases in the coming years.
  • September 2022: The 50G SFP56 transceiver portfolio was enhanced by Eoptolink Technology Inc., Ltd., a top provider of optical transceiver solutions and services. Longer reaches up to 40km and tri-rate support are now part of the upgraded offering. Both duplex and single-fiber optical transceivers are available in the 50G portfolio. Tri-rate capability is supported by all models, allowing them to carry either 50G, 25G, or 10G Ethernet.
