  • May 2023: Nippon Express has announced its acquisition of Austrian full-range logistics provider, cargo-partner, making it a subsidiary of the Japanese global logistics services company. The deal was signed on May 12, 2023, and will come into effect subject to the usual regulatory (anti-trust and FDI) approvals in an estimated four to seven months along with the subsequent closing.
  • April 2023: DHL Express has partnered Pick Network, a nationwide parcel locker network by the Infocomm Media Development Authority of Singapore, to tap into its full locker network in Singapore. This will enable DHL customers to collect their parcels from another 1,008 lockers near their homes, on top of the existing four DHL Express service centers and over 450 service points across the island.

June 2023: Albert Heijn, often abbreviated to AH and informally to Appie, is the largest supermarket chain in the Netherlands. Albert Heijn stopped flying in unprocessed fruit and vegetables. From 1 June 2023, fruit and vegetables, such as sugar snaps, haricots verts and passion fruit, are only transported via sea container or road transport.

July 2023: Netherlands-based ZHD Stevedores ordered the first all-electric transshipment crane CBG 500 E from Liebherr. The crane, which was recently launched on the market, has a lifting capacity of up to 105 tonnes in hook operation and a maximum grab capability of up to 90 tonnes. The crane will be used for bulk handling in the area of Rotterdam and the ZHD terminals in Dordrecht and Moerdijk.

  • October 2022: The CMA CGM Group, a leading worldwide shipping Group, is pleased to announce that it has completed the acquisition of Containerships, a container transportation and logistics company.   • Jan 2023: The investment firm Ivanhoé Cambridge has recently completed the acquisition of a first-of-its-kind last-mile logistical facility in the German city of Munich, with the participation of its asset management partner, URBZ Capital. The property, located in the Karlsfeld area of Munich, has a surface area of approximately 12,570 square meters, with an estimated 4,500 square meters of additional extension potential, and is situated on a 23,800 square meter freehold site.
  • August 2023: Apeejay Shipping Ltd (ASL) announced the acquisition of a Japanese-built vessel with a deadweight capacity of 76,812 MT. The vessel adds significant strength to the Kolkata-based company's fleet, now totaling 10 vessels and boasting a combined deadweight tonnage (dwt) of 671,332 MT.

  • July 2023: CEVA Logistics is expanding warehouse automation in its two warehouses in Venray, Netherlands, thanks to the Skypod System from Exotec, a France-based warehouse robotics specialist. The flexible goods-to-person order picking solution will enhance facility efficiency, and during peak seasons, CEVA expects to handle three times the volumes than before.
  • February 2023: In a bid to expand the Trincomalee Port the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) will invest to build a warehouse, and administrative building and add several other infrastructures to it, announced the Minister of Ports and Shipping of Srilanka. The Jetty would be deeper and will initiate programs to attract cruise and passenger vessels to the harbor as well. The Trincomalee Port has made profits in the recent past which would be plowed in to invest to add these infrastructures.
  • February 2023: The Trincomalee port, the fifth largest natural harbor in the world, has received a JPY 1 billion (USD 7.52 million) night navigation operations facility from Japan. The project includes a state-of-the-art Vessel Traffic Management System, Radar Equipment, Lighthouse Equipment, 16 Navigation Buoys, two Mooring Buoys, two 400KV Generators, 14 Fire Pumps with machinery, and a Pilot Vessel provided by the Japan International Cooperation System (JICS) with the assistance of the Government and the People of Japan.
