  • April 2024: Asahi Kasei announced its plans to establish an integrated plant in Ontario, Canada. This facility will concentrate on manufacturing base films and coating its Hipore wet-process lithium-ion battery (LIB) separator.   • April 2024: Syensqo has begun building its new battery-grade polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) facility in Augusta, Georgia, United States. When it starts operations, this facility will be the largest PVDF production site in North America. PVDF, a thermoplastic fluoropolymer, is used as a binder and separator coating in lithium-ion batteries.
