Additionally, regarding the Canadian facility, the newly formed Asahi Kasei Battery Separator Corp.2, set to commence operations in October 2024, will receive funding from the Development Bank of Japan Inc. (DBJ) through a preferred share issuance.
  • April 2024: Syensqo has begun building its new battery-grade polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) facility in Augusta, Georgia, United States. When it starts operations, this facility will be the largest PVDF production site in North America. PVDF, a thermoplastic fluoropolymer, is used as a binder and separator coating in lithium-ion batteries.
