  • September 2023: BAE Systems plc awarded contracts to A&P, and Cammell Laird awarded contracts to build units for the Royal Navy's Type 26 Frigates. The advanced anti-submarine warfare vessels are being constructed at BAE Systems' site in Scotland.

  • In March 2023, PT Pindad launched AM1, a new assault rifle variant. The company collaborated with EOS-T, an optical sight company from South Korea, for the design of the AM1 rifle. It is a NATO standard caliber of 5.56 mm x 45 mm. This weapon is fitted with a telescopic buttstock tube so that the user can adjust the length of the stock butt size.

  • September 2022: Raytheon Intelligence & Space won a 10-year USD 215 million contract to provide a technical refresh and Dual Frequency Operation (DFO) upgrades to the Federal Aviation Administration's Wide-Area Augmentation System (WAAS). It is a space-based precision navigation system. WAAS is a Satellite-based Augmentation System (SBAS) that provides GPS corrections for critical navigation for the aviation community, first responders, and other government agencies. It ensures the pilots can land safely in austere environments despite weather challenges.

In July 2023, the UK government signed a contract worth GBP 280 million (USD 361.7 million) with BAE Systems PLC to replenish the British Army's frontline munitions. Under the contract, the company will deliver vital defense stocks for the service, which include 5.56-millimeter ammunition, 155-millimeter artillery shells, and 30-millimeter medium caliber rounds.

In February 2023, Winchester, the small caliber ammunition manufacturer for the US military, announced that the US Army awarded a contract to the company to manufacture, test, and deliver 5 million 6.8mm Next Generation Squad Weapon (NGSW) cartridges.

  • December 2022: PEO IEW&S (Program Executive Office Intelligence, Electronic Warfare and Sensors) announced that they developed a Biometrically Enabled Watch List Dissemination Management Functionality (BDMF). It addresses end-user requirements by significantly lowering the time it takes to transfer biometric data using DOD ABIS. The introduction of this technology will help defense forces to transfer massively large files of fingerprints, facial recognition imaging, and other biometric data.
  • October 2022: The US Army announced the unveiling of a new Army Biometric Program Directive. The directive covers the employment of Army biometric capabilities and operational actions. Biometric data accurately identifies adversaries and enemies in real-time while verifying neutral identities with confidence. It is thereby helping the United States Army and can prove to be critical in complex environments like urban defense areas.

May 2023- Turkey's FNSS Defence Systems was contracted to provide capability enhancement to the Turkish Army's ACV-15 advanced armored personnel carriers (AAPCs). The agreement was signed to boost the vehicle's performance and extend its service life for an additional 20 years. According to the company, the AAPCs will be fitted with modern subsystems to support more missions and help address sophisticated threats on the battlefield.

April 2023- Rheinmetall AG and Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) received an order from the German army to upgrade 143 Puma infantry fighting vehicles. The companies announced that they will retrofit the armored vehicles with key capabilities for firepower and command and control by 2029.

  • January 2023: Orbit Communications Systems and a leading integrator in South East Asia were awarded a multi-million contract to supply OceanTRx 7MIL satellite communication systems to a navy in the region
  • November 2022: Inmarsat Government announced that it was awarded a contract to provide internet-of-things satellite connectivity for US Army battlefield tracking devices, Blue Force Tracker, by the Defense Information Systems Agency. The contract is worth USD 410 million. The company will connect the tracker devices using a new network called ELERA, which uses existing L-band satellites.
