  • In August 2022, BASF divested its BASF Nutrilife baking enzymes business segment to Lallemand Inc which is an enzyme manufacturer. Lallemand has a unique product portfolio such as Lallemand yeast and bacteria technology platforms.
  • In November 2021, Novozymes and Novo Nordisk Pharmatech collaborated on the development of best-in-class technical enzymes to support production processes in the biopharmaceutical industry. This collaboration will help Novozymes to scale up the processes in the regenerative medicines market.

  • January 2023: Eni announced that it is forming a new company called Eni Sustainable Mobility. This new company will focus on sustainable transportation. Eni Sustainable Mobility will work on bio-refining, biomethane, and the sale of mobility products and services in Italy and other countries.   • In June 2023, Oleon NV opened an oleochemicals production plant that can operate purely based on proteins of all-natural origin (enzymes). A total of EUR 17.4 million (~USD 19.56 million) has been invested in the INCITE project, including EUR 13.3 million (~USD 14.95 million) in European subsidies.

Ltd., a 50:50 joint venture between Spanish Cepsa and Indonesian conglomerate Sinar Mas, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Singaporean palm oil producer Golden Agri-Resources, a subsidiary of Sinar Mas to expand its bio-based chemicals production. The company is enhancing its global presence, growing the global demand for fatty acids and natural alcohols in home and personal care products, and increasing demand for sustainable, bio-based solutions across various industries it serves.
  • September 2022: LANXESS developed a non-halogen flame retardant for use in glass fiber-reinforced plastics, particularly for the electrical and electronics industry. The company will offer these products under the Emerald Innovation NH 500 brand name.
  • July 2022: BASF SE partnered with THOR GmbH to develop a non-halogenated flame retardant additive. This product will comply with the safety standards enriching the sustainability of the particular product.

  • November 2022: OMV Petrom announced the initiation of production of AdBlue in Romania following an investment of EUR 800,000 (~USD 834,000) in a new production facility south of Bucharest. In its first phase, AdBlue will be sold in OMV and Petrom filling stations, and starting next year it will be also sold in other networks.
