Article 230.67 of the 2020 National Electrical Code (NEC) mandates that all services supplying dwelling units be equipped with a Type 1 or Type 2 surge protective device, either as an integral part of the equipment or situated immediately nearby. These new breakers are made to comply with this requirement.
