RIS is an innovative multi-antenna technology that utilizes electromagnetic metamaterials. RIS enables the extension of base station coverage and improved coverage at a low cost and with low carbon emissions. ZTE's millimeter-wave network has a 400MHz bandwidth, which offers enhanced signal coverage. It will enable users to maintain a peak downlink rate of over 1.6Gbps and an uplink elevation of over 260Mbps.
  • August 2023 - Fujitsu announced its aims to begin commercial deployment of radio units using the technology globally in fiscal 2024 and contribute to the spread of millimeter-wave in the global market and decarbonization of the telecommunications industry. Subsequently, the beam multiplexing technology will be applied to base station (CU/DU) products and offered globally in fiscal 2025.
