According to Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC) in 2020, about 47.2% of population in the United States who are above the age of 30 have some form of periodontal disease. According to the study titled "Update on the prevalence of untreated caries in the US adult population, 2017-2020" published in the Journal of American Dental Association in April 2022, untreated caries were found to be prevalent in 21.3 %. The prevalence of coronal and root caries was 17.9 and 10.1 %, respectively. Caries was most common in those aged 30 to 39 years (25.2%) and 40 to 49 years (22.3%), men (23.5%), and those of other races (36.5% )This untreated dental caries can lead to tooth extraction and generate the need for cosmetic dentistry in the region.
