Italy Food Safety Testing Market Analysis

The Italy food safety testing market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 11.8%, over the next five years.

The extensive food and stringent food safety regulations implemented by the European Union are expected to drive the Italy food safety testing market. Food safety has come under threat from the rising incidence of foodborne illnesses, incidences of adulteration, and toxicity, which has increased the demand for food safety testing in the country. This stems in part from a rash of prominent 'food scares' in Italy in December 2022, the Ministry of Health (Ministero della Salute) issued a warning regarding the few batches of the Veroni Supergiant Mortadella product due to the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in it which killed one person and sickened more than 20 people. Also, according to World Health Organization (WHO), an estimated 600 million people worldwide, or about 1 in 10, become unwell after eating contaminated food, and 420,000 people pass away each year.

Additionally, the market is being driven by an increase in consumer knowledge of food safety, conditions involving chemical contamination, and improvements in speedy inspection. The quality of products is also improving as a result of regulatory changes intended to reduce the number of people who contract foodborne illnesses like nausea, food poisoning, and diarrhea. The Food Standards Agency identifies two primary types of food fraud: selling potentially dangerous and unsuitable food goods at retail and purposeful mislabeling of food. For instance, in September 2022, the Food and Drug Administration issued warnings to businesses concerning import infractions and Listeria in fresh fruit facilities as part of its enforcement activities.
