Ceftiofur Market Analysis

The Ceftiofur market studied was anticipated to grow with a CAGR of 5.6% during the forecast period.

COVID-19 has affected the ceftiofur market significantly. The supply chain was disrupted, leading to difficulty in moving animal products, such as meat, milk, and eggs to markets. However, to cater to the disrupted demand-supply chain, the Food and Agriculture Organization, in April 2020, published a new policy regarding the production of livestock and the supply chain of livestock products during the pandemic to ensure sufficient production of livestock. In May 2020, Animal Health Europe announced the European Commission adding veterinary medicines to the ''Communication for the Implementation of the Green Lanes under the Guidelines for Border Management Measures'', to protect health and ensure the availability of goods and essential services for the stable supply of safe, nutritious food and protection of pets during the pandemic. Therefore, the market studied was affected largely by lockdowns and restrictions.

The major factor attributing to the growth of the market is a rise in the death rate among swine and cattle around the world with reproductive tract infections, and skin and soft tissue infections.

Higher demand for ceftiofur antibiotics can be due to their approval for treatment of bacterial respiratory disease associated with various bacterium. These bacteria include Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae and Streptococcus suis infections among swine, Mannheimia haemolytica, and Haemophilus Somnus among cattle. According to the United States Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service article about National Veterinary Services Laboratories Foreign Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (FADDL), updated in June 2021, several infectious foreign animal disease (FAD) agents are studied in the facility in New York. The Diagnostics Services section of the FADDL can diagnose more than thirty exotic animal diseases (including foot-and-mouth disease, classical swine fever, African swine fever, and other diseases listed by the World Organization for Animal Health) and can perform thousands of diagnostic tests each year. With the help of diagnostics in veterinary, more infectious diseases are being detected which is contributing to the market growth, as it will open new opportunities for treatment options for such diseases.
