Market Share of APAC Semiconductor Device Industry In Consumer Industry
The APAC semiconductor devices market in consumer electronics is fragmented with several players like Intel Corporation, Kyocera Corporation, Toshiba Corporation, etc. The companies continuously invest in strategic partnerships and product developments to gain substantial market share. Some of the recent developments in the market are:
August 2022: Samsung Electronics launched its new semiconductor research and development complex in Giheung, Korea, to extend its prominence in advanced semiconductor technology. The company plans to invest approximately KRW 20 trillion by 2028 in the complex. The R&D center would cover an area of about 109,000 sq. m within its Giheung campus. The new facility would be engaged in advanced research on next-generation devices and processes for memory and system semiconductors, as well as developing innovative new technologies based on a long-term roadmap.
August 2022: Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) announced it is working on an ultra-advanced 3-nanometer (nm) chip. The next-generation 3nm chips are constructed on Gate-All-Around (GAA) technology, which it claims would allow an area reduction of up to 35% while giving 30% higher performance and 50% lower power consumption than the current FinFET process.
