• December 2022: Gazprom Neft announced that it is planning to launch a project to produce needle coke in its Omsk refinery, which will be utilized in the manufacturing of Li-ion batteries and graphite electrodes. This project is expected to be completed by 2024.
• December 2022: POSCO Chemical announced the agreement with Ultium Cells LLC to supply graphite anode material for the expansion of EV battery cells in the United States. In POSCO Chemical, the entire product was sourced from needle coke.
• April 2022: An absorption-type merger was conducted between Nippon Steel Chemical & Material Co. Ltd and C-Chem. C-Chem became a part of Nippon Steel, adding to the needle coke product business.

• October 2022: Syrah Resources Ltd. announced it would supply a key lithium-ion battery component to South Korea's LG Energy Solution Ltd. According to the agreement, the company was to provide 2 kilotons per annum of graphite to LG Energy Solution Ltd. active anode material (AAM) from 2025 and increase it to at least 10 ktpa after its production capacity at its Vidalia facility in Louisiana.
• October 2022: Imerys Graphite & Carbon announced the launch of a landmark lithium exploitation project (“the EMILI Project'') at its Beauvoir site (Allier département of France). The project intended to expand Imerys' position as a market leader and expert in Li-ion battery components and complete its product line, which includes synthetic graphite and carbon black, at its production facilities in Willebroek (Belgium) and Bodio (Switzerland).

September 2022: Epsilon Carbon announced an investment of INR 5.5 billion (~ USD 67.27 million) in a carbon black facility based in Vijaynagar, Karnataka. With the new investment, the company will scale its production from an installed annual capacity of 115 kilotons to 215 kilotons of carbon black material, which will be supplied to tire and non-tire market companies. The new capacity is expected to be commissioned by the end of FY 2024.

April 2022: Phillips Carbon Black Limited (PCBL), a part of RP Sanjiv Goenka Group, announced that it had begun commercial production at its INR 8 billion (~ USD 87.85 million) greenfield carbon black project in Tamil Nadu, with a capacity of 63 kilotons.

• September 2022: HEG Limited announced it would commission its graphite electrode capacity expansion in Madhya Pradesh, India, by December 2022. The total capital expenditure for expanding the graphite electrode capacity to 100 kilotons per annum from 80 kilotons per annum accounted for INR 1,200 crore (USD 156.30 million).
• August 2022: HEG Limited announced an expansion project to increase graphite electrode production capacity from 80,000 tons to 100,000 tons. The company aimed to start commercial graphite electrode production at the new expansion site by early 2023.

• October 2022: The Indian Metallurgical Coke Manufacturers Association (IMCOM) requested the Indian government to review taxes and duties on coking coal and metallurgical coke. The IMCOM asked for a 5% import duty on metallurgical coke to help domestic Met coke producers survive.
• August 2022: The China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) announced a decline in the average production cost of metallurgical coke of 10.13 percent. It is likely to affect the metallurgical coke market in China.

• In May 2021, American-based company, Kingsford announced a partnership with Australian-based Everdure. The partnership will help Kingsford and Everdure to deliver the best possible charcoal products to customers that will help in making outdoor cooking easy and fun.
• In September 2020, American-based company Fire and Flavor established a joint venture with Englewood Marketing Group (EMG). This joint venture will help Fire and Flavor to compete in the charcoal business globally.

• In December 2022, Balfour Beatty signed a memorandum of understanding with Holtec Britain and Hyundai Engineering and Construction (HDEC) to develop small modular nuclear reactors in the United Kingdom.
• In October 2022, Balfour Beatty today announced that its 50:50 joint venture, Gammon, has been awarded an HKD 1.3 billion (USD 0.17 million) contract on behalf of Top Oasis Limited, a consortium formed by Sino Land Company Limited and CSI Properties Limited for the construction of a residential development in Yau Tong, Hong Kong.

• February 2023: HasslacherHolding GmbH acquired a 40% stake in Egoin Wood Group. With production sites in Ea (Biscay) and Legutio (Araba), this globally engaged company has more than 30 years of experience in the creation of construction timber solutions. The overall production capacity for engineered wood products at Egoin Wood Group was 22,000 m³ (14,000 m³ cross-laminated timber and 8,000 m³ glulam), but that capacity was anticipated to increase to up to 52,000 m³ when the third cross-laminated timber plant in Legutio opened in mid-2023.
• October 2022: Stora Enso announced its product, Sylva. It is a massive wood building kit comprising pre-manufactured, custom-made applications delivered in time to the building site. Stora launched this product to meet the demand for sustainable and innovative construction solutions and strengthen its business in the sustainable wood structure market for low-carbon buildings.

• February 2023: AGC and Saint-Gobain partnered to create a revolutionary pilot flat glass line with drastic CO2 emissions reduction. The new technology is expected to be implemented on the patterned glass line by the end of 2024.
• January 2023: Guardian Glass signed an agreement to acquire Vortex Glass, which specializes in providing insulated and laminated glass that can survive hurricane impacts. The acquisition would help Guardian Glass to expand its laminated and flat glass business in Florida, United States.
