Thousands of animals are forced to perform their best in animal fights and games under the threat of physical punishment; are carted on long journeys in cramped and stuffy boxcars or semi-truck trailers; are kept chained or caged in barren, boring, and filthy enclosures; and are separated from their families and friends–all for the sake of human entertainment. Many of these animals even pay with their lives. To meet the requirements and for better performance, farmers were directed them towards the Game Feed. Market is estimated to grow at a CAGR% of XX during 2015-2020.
Animals are forced to participate in these activities. Even the winners emerge physically and emotionally scarred and the losers often pay with their lives. This cruelty to animals is prohibited and there are several laws and associations for the same. All these are thus hindering the growth of the Game Feed market. However, in some parts, there are entire families that participate in the training and fighting of animals, like a family business or a casual hobby. Also it doesn’t seem to depend on the financial status of consumers as people who are involved in blood sport enterprises are doing it because they love the blood sport. Moreover, due to the rising disposable incomes, the spending power of the purchasers is also increasing and hence are expecting more natural and organic ingredients in the feeds. All these factors are driving the Game Feed market in the Asia–Pacific market.
The market is segmented as Proteins, Vitamins, Minerals and Energy ingredients. And into Ruminants, Poultry, Swine and Horses. Carbohydrates are essential part of the diet as they store energy required to perform various activities, but supplied in limited quantities as they also add fat. Among the animals, dog fighting, bull baiting, bear baiting and cock fighting are common. Cockfight, Bull fight are the two most common animal fights. Racing is also common in a few parts of Asia – Pacific regions. Animals which are commonly used in racing include horses and sometimes bulls.
Key players involved in the production of Game Feed are Cargill, A-One, WES Enterprises, ALZU feeds etc. All these companies are investing huge amounts in R&D focusing on new and innovative products and also for the publicity of such products. Mergers, Acquisitions and Partnerships are some of the common strategies employed by the companies to increase the range of their products and thus expand their market share.
